Chanel Makeup Haul

“Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”
— Coco Chanel

This Chanel quote couldn't be more perfect for this weeks post because my recent purchases are all about light/dark or illuminating/bronzing (w/a splash of colour). At a recent shopping trip to my one of my favourite stores in London (Selfridges) I decided to finally put some of Chanel's cult beauty products to the test.

Pictured 'Le Blanc de Chanel Multi-Use Base' and 'Chanel Tan de Soleil Bronzing Base'.

First, on my list was 'Chanel Tan de Soleil' bronzing base which is mean to be applied after your BB cream or foundation and can be set with a translucent powder. The lady at the Chanel counter recommends applying this product to the back of your hand first then taking the product from your hand onto a flat brush and sweeping it over your face in the desired areas. Now, I must say out of all the purchases made this product was the only disappointment to me because I already have quite olive skin this cream bronzer didn't do much for my complexion at all. I would say that this product is best for people with much lighter skin tones who want to achieve a sunkissed look. Though, I will play around with this product and revisit in the winter to see if I get any joy from it. The bronzer does have a slight shimmer to it so for those trying to get a bronzed glow without being too dark or flat then this product is for you. Also, for very light skin tones this product would be good for contouring.

Also, on my shopping list was 'Le Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base' which tends to get mixed reviews but I rather liked the idea of it and wanted to try for myself. Again, this product is called a base but it really be worn both over and under foundation. I used this product for highlighting on my cheekbones, brow bones, under my eyes, and above/under my lips for a little extra brightening there as well. I personally thought this product was perfect for what I needed and completely natural looking and a tiny bit goes a long way! I would definitely recommend this product for your every day routine to get that dewy natural look!

Last but not least of my purchases was the 'Blush Creme de Chanel' in shade '61 Destiny' which happens to be the best cream blush I've used thus far. I was going to go for one of the more pinky and lighter shades initially but the lady recommended I go with this shade for my skin tone even though it looked quite brown to me at the time. This blush though it looks quite brown or terracotta even still has a rosy enough pigment that comes through and seems to last all day and is an absolute dream to apply! I would definitely recommend this for your daily routine if you have medium or olive skin!
